Nawab Sirajuddaula was a brave young man. His life was full of power, conspiracy, and sorrow. His full Persian name was Mirza Muhammad Sirajuddaula. He was born in 1733. In 1756, at the age of 23, he became the Nawab of Bengal after his grandfather Alivardi Khan. At that time, Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa were under his rule.
But ruling was not easy. There was betrayal in the court, foreign pressure, and many conspiracies. On June 23, 1757, the Battle of Plassey took place. It was a sad day in history. His commander Mir Jafar and others like Rai Durlabh betrayed him. Because of this, the British East India Company, led by Robert Clive, took control of Bengal.
This defeat started British rule in the Indian subcontinent. Even though Sirajuddaula lost, his courage is remembered in history.
